Bartlesville police are looking for a killer after a man was shot dead in his driveway.

It happened in the 100 block of Northwest Margarite Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

FOX23's Janai Norman talked to neighbors about what they saw and heard.

Police said 46-year-old Douglas Diaz was in his driveway working on this car, and neighbors say they heard a loud boom and say Diaz ran inside his home, where he collapsed.

"One loud bang," that's what Bob Bowen says he heard about 10:30 on Wednesday night.

"Then shortly after that, things went crazy around here. We didn't know if something on the car blew up and hit him," said Bowen.

Another neighbor, who did not want to be identified said she was just getting home when Diaz' daughter ran over and said, 'My daddy is dying please call 9-1-1.'

Bowen said she wasn't the only neighbor to help. "There's a kid down the street who got a license plate number on a car they hadn't seen around here before."

Bowen said police never talked to him, or any other neighbors. One detective was tight-lipped because the investigation isongoing; he would not even say how many shots were fired. Another detective told FOX23 they believe Diaz was targeted.

Neighbors and family members said they didn't know whether it was a gunshot wound or something that went wrong with the car that killed Diaz until they were watching FOX23 News on Thursday morning.
