Michael Haynes came to Tulsa from WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh, PA, where he forecast the weather for western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia.
Michael has always been amazed at how the atmosphere works, even while growing up in sunny California. Strong winter rain storms would never disappoint, but he knew there were other places where even fiercer weather lurked. After graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in Geography (and minor degrees in Atmospheric & Seismic Hazards, Geology and Spanish) he headed for graduate school in Mississippi to study meteorology and broadcasting. The Deep South was a perfect place to study severe weather and he was hooked.
In 1999, Michael's weather broadcasting career began in Bluefield, WV. He then worked in Wheeling, WV, before heading to Pittsburgh for a nearly-two-year stint. While at WTAE, he filled in occasionally right here in Tulsa on FOX23 News Daybreak.
Michael enjoys living and working in Tulsa where he says Oklahomans are great people to be around. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and her daughter, doing lots of home landscaping, and also sampling the different types of food from many of Tulsa's great restaurants. He also enjoys entering eating contests and he has even won several of them over the years.
