| John Boyer joined FOX23 in August, 2013. He was previously a meteorologist at the CBS affiliate in Macon, Georgia. In 2012, John earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society. John graduated from North Carolina State University in Raleigh with a degree in meteorology.|
During his senior year, John interned at WRAL in Raleigh. That spring brought North Carolina’s most active tornado outbreak, including one tornado that hit downtown Raleigh. John spent the entire day posting to social media and relaying reports to and from the weather center. That experience reinforced his commitment to clear and responsible breaking weather coverage.
At N.C. State, John took advantage of every chance to get involved with broadcasting: behind the microphone at WKNC-FM, in front of the cameras at UNC’s “Carolina Week” and even painting the green screen for NCSU Weather. His television career officially started behind the scenes at WSLS in Roanoke.
John hails from Roanoke, Virginia. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains aren’t a tornado hotbed, but frequent winter storms sparked John’s interest in weather. John looks forward to the challenge of forecasting Oklahoma’s extreme weather alongside James and the weather team. He is excited to make Tulsa his home and explore everything Green Country has to offer.
You can catch John’s forecasts on FOX23 News at 9 on Saturdays and Sundays.
